Hoboken UMC Officials say hospital will NOT close
Hoboken, NJ, Jan.22, 2010 – Hoboken University Medical Center issued this statement in response to the report issued by the NJ Healthcare Transition Team:
We’re not going to close!
The report to the Governor from his Transition Team is factually incorrect. Hoboken UMC will not be closing. In fact, over the past few months we have successfully negotiated labor concessions; we have received 10 percent reduction in salaries from employees and savings from vendors; and we have reduced other costs to ensure that we are financially stable for 2010. Our employees and physicians are loyal and committed to this hospital.
We were shocked to learn about the transition team report issued today. We do not see this report as the new administration’s policies and we are looking forward to working with the new administration, Governor, Commissioners of Health and Community Affairs.
It is important to know that Hoboken UMC was never contacted by the Transition Team and at no point were we asked to give to the Transition Team any financials, business plans or strategic plans. Additionally, we know that there are many hospitals in New Jersey in financial distress. Many of those hospitals are in worse shape than Hoboken UMC.
We regret that this Report misinforms the public and upsets both our patients and employees. Hoboken UMC will continue to provide quality care for many years to come.
