Hoboken UMC Has Found a Safer Way to Diagnose Your Condition
The hospital has acquired the revolutionary new Somatom Definition CT scanner, the first and only in Hudson County.

Hoboken, NJ, August 11, 2009 – Hoboken University Medical Center has acquired a revolutionary new technology called the Somatom Definition CT scanner that produces high quality medical images, safely.  Unlike other scanners, Hoboken UMC’s CT actively manages the radiation doses in 100% of examinations, blocking unnecessary doses for that particular patient, making it the safest CT scanner in Hudson County.  “It’s pretty simple,” remarks Spiros Hatiras, Chief Executive Officer of Hoboken UMC. “Great images. An absolute minimum amount of radiation. Fast. Safe. Accurate.”

Medical staff members say the Somatom Definition CT will further improve patient care. “It provides a level of flexibility for CT scanning that we have never had before.  The technology can be utilized for nearly any kind of exam or condition from stroke, internal organ assessment, to cancer staging, and on any type of patient, according to the needs of the individual,” explains Dr. Kozel, President of Hoboken UMC’s Medical Staff.

Hoboken UMC’s CT scanner’s patient-friendly design has the largest opening and field of view of any scanner on the market, giving even the most claustrophobic patients a quick, reliable diagnosis.  When children need a CT scan, this technology delivers high quality imaging with the most minimal exposure to radiation for a prompt diagnosis with a greater degree of protection.

With many CT scanners, physicians can see the structure, size, shape and location of clinical details, but these images can’t answer all diagnostic questions.  The Somatom Definition CT has 2D, 3D, and 4D imaging, and provides detailed images and advanced diagnostic capabilities.  “Hoboken UMC’s new CT provides additional information that enables doctors to differentiate, characterize, isolate and distinguish the tissue, making it easier to determine the disease,” offers Dr. Bahramipour, Hoboken UMC’s Radiology Medical Director. “The new technology we have adopted in 4D imaging adapts to each patient’s clinical needs and covers the exact area the patient requires. “

Hoboken UMC is committed to improving quality everyday.  To schedule a CT exam, or for any further questions patients should call the Imaging Department at (201) 418-3085.
