Hoboken University Medical Center is named Hospital of the Year
Hoboken hospital recognized for its long tradition of service and raising the bar for community healthcare
Hoboken, June 26, 2008 – Hoboken University Medical Center was chosen Hospital of the Year at the annual Healthcare Heroes Awards, a program by NJBIZ, the state’s leading business journal. Now in its second year, the Healthcare Heroes awards recognize individuals and institutions that significantly impact the quality of healthcare in New Jersey.
Hoboken UMC was recognized for its 150 years of unbroken service and for raising the standard of community health care in its first year of operation with initiatives such as the new Children’s Healthcare Center, the first high-definition MRI unit in Hudson County and construction of a state-of-the-art Emergency Department.
“We’re thrilled and honored to be named Hospital of the Year,” said Harvey A. Holzberg, CEO of Hoboken UMC. “It’s certainly a welcome reflection of the quality of work and dedication of our physicians, nurses, employees, volunteers and the Hospital Auxiliary.”
“Selecting the finalists to recognize in a state so rich in talent was no easy task,” said NJBIZ publisher Thomas F. Curtin. “Even before the judging began, all the nominees had already been recognized as standouts by their peers.”
Other honored finalists for Hospital of the Year included Hackensack University Medical Center, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, Children’s Specialized Hospital and Jersey City Medical Center.
